2c Dress Client with Affected Right Arm

Supplies: 2 shirts bath blanket soiled linen container

Must successfully demonstrate 9/11 steps

Explain procedure, speaking clearly, slowly, and directly, maintaining a face-to-face interaction

Provide 360° privacy with a curtain, screen, or door.

Ask client which shirt he/she/they prefers to wear and dress client in shirt of choice

Avoid overexposure of client by ensuring chest is covered throughout the procedure

Remove gown from the left (unaffected) side first, then remove gown from the right (affected) side

Before dressing client, dispose of gown in the soiled linen container

Required Step: Assist to put the right (affected) arm through the right sleeve of the shirt before placing the garment on the left (unaffected) arm

While putting on the shirt, moves the body gently and naturally, avoiding force and overextension of limbs and joints

Finishes with clothing in place, ensuring correct buttons are lined up with matching buttonholes, collar is turned down, and shirt is pulled down neatly

Ensure signaling device is within reach and the bed is in the lowest horizontal position

After completing the skill, wash hands
