10c Clean Upper or Lower Dentures

Supplies: denture cup with dentures toothbrush toothpaste (preferably denture toothpaste) washcloth paper towel soiled linen container

Must successfully demonstrate 10/12 steps

Don clean gloves before handling denture

Line bottom of sink with washcloth or paper towel or partially fill the sink with water before holding denture over sink

Rinse the denture in moderate (hot & cold) running water before brushing them

Apply toothpaste to the toothbrush

Brush all surfaces of the denture

Rinse all denture surfaces under moderate temperature running water

Rinse the denture cup and lid

Place the denture in the denture cup with moderate temperature water and place the lid on the cup

Rinse the toothbrush with moderate temperature water, place it in the clean emesis basin, leaving it by the sink

Maintain clean technique with placement of toothbrush and denture

Appropriately remove and dispose of the sink liner and/or drain the sink

Properly remove and dispose of gloves and immediately wash hands

Suggested Time: 4 minutes
