Tips for Multiplying by 2
- It may be helpful to imagine doubling the other number. For example, when multiplying 6 by 2, double the number 6 to get 12 or when multiplying the number 9 by 2, double the number 9 to get 18. If you have already studied adding doubles, that information will be very helpful with this set of flashcards.
- Another way to multiply by two is to count by 2s the number of times that is equal to the number you are multiplying by two. For example, when multiplying 3 by 2, count by 2s three times...2 - 4 - 6 to get an answer of 6 or when multiplying 5 by 2, count by 2s five times...2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 10 to get an answer of 10.
