Katrena's Reading Flash Cards: Compound Words #2

Compound words, those that include two smaller words combined to make a new word, may seem rather daunting at first glance. However, new readers can often read those compound words that look impossible if they break them down into their two separate pieces first.

This set of flash cards splits the two components to give practice reading the shorter words first, then shows the compound word on the following slide. These flash cards can also be used as an opportunity to look at how the definition changes as one combines words into a new compound word.
