Math Flash Cards: Multiply by 6 (6 is the 2nd Factor)

These math flash cards feature multiplying numbers zero through twelve by six. Multiplying by six, seven, and eight are often challenging for many people, but if you are learning them in order, you've already learned many of the lower numbers and perhaps even 10s and 11s, so many of these may be familiar already.

Tips for Multiplying by 6

One way to multiply by six is to add the other number to itself six times. For example, when multiplying 3 by 6, imagine having six 3s or 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 18. Here's another example: when multiplying 5 by 6, imagine having six 5s or 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 30.
Some people find it easier to skip count by 6 when multiplying by six. Simply skip count by 6s the number of times that is equal to the number you are multiplying by five. For example, when multiplying 4 by 6, count by 6s four times...6 - 12 - 18 - 24 to get an answer of 24 or when multiplying 7 by 6, count by 6s seven times...6 - 12 - 18 - 24 - 30 - 36 - 42 for an answer of 42.
Another way to multiply by six is to multiply the other number by 3 and then double that answer. For example, to determine the answer for 8 X 6, multiply 8 X 3 = 24 and then double 24 = 48. Here is another example of this method: to determine the answer for 7 X 6, multiply 7 X 3 = 21 and then double 21 = 42.

Math Flash Cards: Multiply by 4 (4 is the 2nd Factor)

These math flash cards feature multiplying by 4. It may be a little easier to learn multiplying by 10s and by 5s than to multiply by 4s. Feel free to skip around when learning multiplication tables.

Tips for Multiplying by 4

One way to multiply by four is to add the other number to itself four times. For example, when multiplying 3 by 4, imagine 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12, or when multiplying 8 by 4, imagine 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 32.
Another way to multiply by four is to double the other number twice. For example, when multiplying 5 by 4, double 5 = 10 and then double 10 = 20. Another example using this method would be to multiply 11 by 4: double 11 = 22 and then double 22 = 44. I personally think this way is a little quicker and easier.
It may also help to skip count by fours when multiplying by four. Count by 4s the number of times that is equal to the number you are multiplying by four. For example, when multiplying 6 by 4, count by 4s six times...4 - 8 - 12 - 16 - 20 - 24 to get an answer of 24 or when multiplying 9 by 4, count by 4s nine times...4 - 8 - 12 - 16 - 20 - 24 - 28 - 32 - 36 to get an answer of 36.
