Katrena's Reading Flash Cards: Words with the Letter I

It is an amazing feeling to watch a person who begins to make connections between the written and spoken word. To see the eyes become wide as a person begins to sound out words and begin to read is so fulfilling!

I designed these 15 flash cards that feature simple words containing the letter "i" as a way to practice phonics. Many are high frequency words. A few of these flash cards near the end are a little more challenging.

Katrena's Reading Flash Cards: Words With the Letter A

Flash cards can be very helpful tools when learning how to read. This list of fifteen flash cards includes words that contain the letter "a." They start out with very simple words and progress to a few words with blends near the end. The last word is a bit of a challenge for many emerging readers!

I had originally made ten flash cards in this series, but my first grader informed me that if I added an "l" to the word fat that I could make the word "flat." I then decided to add the extra words, and she enjoyed the added challenge. One can sound out most of the words, but a few of the later ones are sight words.
