Review the following information to gather ideas for creating your own art piece this week:

Artwork Assignment Option #1
Create your own graffiti art making graffiti letters to spell one word or short phrase - your name or a word/phrase that has special meaning for you (whatever media you choose). This can be 2D or 3D. If you decide to paint this project, consider doing so on something other than paper (rock, cloth, board, etc.
Artwork Assignment Option #2
Create a collage using magazines, newspapers, articles from around the house/yard, your own drawings, etc. Focus on a theme that interests you, such as a hobby or interest that you have.
Include your art piece(s) in your digital art portfolio.
Going further with self-directed research
Research two artists of your choice, one from the past and one current.
Add them to your weekly artist research project.

This visual arts assignment aligns well with world history.
When we did this assignment, we drove around various areas to find all sorts of examples of art, including art on the sides of walls, on the sides of railroad cars, on rocks, etc. You might add resources highlighting various local art pieces in your neighborhood. The collage option can align well with another subject like ELA or health.
