Free World History Curriculum by Katrena

Free World History resources abound on the Internet, but I could not find a free version that was comprehensive to use as a high school homeschooling resource, so I made my own. Since I put over 300 hours into this project, I decided to share these resources with my Student Survive 2 Thrive readers as well!

This resource is based on Holt McDougal's 2012 World History: Patterns of Interactions textbook. I found that textbook to be quite informative and it has a variety of learning opportunities with each chapter; however, you'll probably want to supplement with information from 2012 to today.

My daughter was getting a little overwhelmed with the end of chapter questions, so I decided to simplify and make my own simple, straightforward quiz focusing on each chapter. I put my questions and answer into Google Classroom and made each one open notes so she would be engaged and focused as she read each chapter and provided unlimited attempts for her to achieve a perfect score if she wanted to do so.

You can find each of my 36 quizzes in the following links. Each chapter quiz includes 10-20 questions with the correct answer directly following each question. The answers have a bold outline. Many of the incorrect answers also provide opportunity for further learning. Since these were screen shots, I also included captions for anyone who is hearing impaired or if it is difficult to see the bold outline on any of my slides. The graphics for my quizzes are from Pixabay and include a related photo - this could also be an opportunity for further discovery.

I have found that many of my college students enjoy games, so I entered all of my world history quizzes into Kahoot! These games can be played alone or with a group and have a timer of 20 seconds per question. I use the free version by clicking "Continue with Basic" on the entry screen.

My daughter enjoys videos, so I located free YouTube videos related to the topics from each chapter and have included the title and URL for each video at each link below. I copied and pasted these into Google Classroom and then cut the URLs to provide a link directly through the classroom.

You are welcome to use as many or as few of these resources as you wish. If you know of others who are looking for world history resources, I'd love for you to direct them to my blog!
