How to Convert Temperature: Fahrenheit to Celsius and Celsius to Fahrenheit

How to Convert Temperature F to C and C to F

Many healthcare workers regularly convert temperatures. For example, the thermometer or monitor displays the patient's body temperature in one scale while the doctor's orders are specified in another scale.

I have included two charts: one for converting from degrees F (Fahrenheit) to degrees C (Celsius or Centigrade) and the other for converting from degrees C (Celsius or Centigrade) to degrees F (Fahrenheit). Each chart shows three different ways to convert the temperature. You might wish to choose the option that seems simplest to you and perhaps check your math with one or both of the other methods.
*Note that 0.556 is a rounded number. The technically correct number is 0.5555555.
